Les Hilde / Harry Osborne State Forest

Here is a place you can ride and ride and ride. Hopfully, one day someone will name all the trails we mapped so we can put them on the map also. Remember to leave a clean camp. LES HILDE, located east of Sedro Wooley in the Harry Osborne forest not far from I-5 on Highway 20. Paved road all the way to the camp where it turns to gravel. These trails offer something for everyone from beginner to those who want the challenge of the Josephine Lakes trail. You could spend a week here and not see it all. The people here are friendly, be sure and leave your smile and a clean camp area.

Picnic shelter with group fire pit and handicapped mounting ramp in background.

An old log cabin that is decaying along the 1000 road. A creek flowing from Lower Josephine lake tumbles by it.

Les Hilde varmit Les Hilde varmit 2

Not only are the people friendly here but the varmits too. Like this little Mountain Beaver.

I think this young Mt. Beaver was too young to be fearful of us. He enjoyed being petted although not advised.

Red Cabin Creek Bridge, more trails on the other side.

Les Hilde logging debris Les Hilde boardwalk trail

On occasion, logging debris blocks your trail and you have to hunt up another way around .

The Boardwalk...slippery when we were here but plans to put sides on it were in the pot cookin’.

Tasting the aroma of the Butterfly Bush. The pleasant aroma waifs its way throughout the mountain.
